With his human resource background, Mr Lai was a champion of manpower development during his tenure.

Mr Chua Chor Teck

Mr Chua was SASAR’s longest-serving President and an inspiring example to many. He worked his way from an apprentice to become Managing Director, a post he held until his untimely death in 1986.

Mr Ching was returned unopposed for three terms as President before stepping aside because of work commitments.

Mr John A Wilde

Vosper Thornycroft

Mr Wilde spearheaded the formation of SASAR and became its first President. He remained active until he was posted back to the United Kingdom in June 1970.
