MARINE SECTOR

Modelled after the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) 2018 national strategy document, four main strategies have been identified by the WSH Council for the development of the marine industry sectoral plan. These four strategies are:

1.     Improve the Quality of Risk Management and Assessment
2.     Enhancing WSH Capability Building
3.     Developing and Implementing Intervention Programmes
4.     Strengthening Stakeholders’ Involvement in WSH

3) Driving Implementation of Risk Management in the Smaller
    Shipyards
4) Improving Incident Investigation

1) Marine Trade Specific Competency Courses
2) Marine Industry Training Centre
3) Raising Certification Standards for Supervisors and Line
    Managers

4) Supplementing Practical Assistance
5) Improving Management for Workplace Health
6) Enhancing WSH Statistics Collection for the Marine Sector
7) Tools to Benchmark WSH Performance

1) Industry-led Taskforces
2) Enhancing Self Regulation
3) Ensuring Quality of Subcontractors
 

STRATEGY 4

1) Creating Platforms for Senior Management to Demonstrate
    Commitment

2) Strengthening the Engagement of Ship Owners and Crew
